General Braco joined the Air Force in 1978 and graduated from the Air Force Academy in 1983. He was promoted to Captain in 1986, to Major in 1994, to Lieutenant Colonel in 2001, to Colonel in 2011, to Brigadier General in 2015, to Major General in 2017 and to Lieutenant General in 2020.
Along his carrier, he has been posted at the 31st Air Transport Wing, Headquarters of the Air Combat Command, Military Department of the Royal Household and the 45th VIP Air Group –who later commanded as Colonel. On completion of his command as Colonel, he was assigned to the Operations Command (JCO) as Head of Logistics Branch. Once he was promoted to Brigadier General, he took charge as Deputy Chief of Staff Support. Thereafter, as Major General, he was designated Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff of JCO, responsible for the planning and the conduction of the military operations. In September 2020 he was appointed JCO Commander.
On July 23rd, 2024 he was appointed Spanish Air and Space Force Chief of Staff, being promoted to the rank of Air General.
General Braco has significant operations experience. He served as Pilot Commander and Squadron Commander in United Nations Transition Assistance Group (UNTAG), Deny Flight, UNPROFOR, Decisive Endeavour, Deliberate Guard, Deliberate Force and Allied Force. Along theses missions and operations, he has accounts for more than 9.000 flight hours in different aircraft, such as C-130, Falcon 900 and Airbus 310.
Along his career he has completed numerous courses, such as Transport Pilot, Basic and Advance Navigator in United States of America, Staff Course, High International Studies, Master’s Degree in Security and Defense, Generals Flag Officers and Ambassador Course and the Course of National Defense.
He has been awarded with the Great Air Meritorious Cross; Great Cross, Plate, Commendation and Cross of the Royal and Military Order of San Hermenegildo's Royal and Military Order; Commendation of the Royal and Distinguished Order of Carlos III; Plate to the Merit of the Guardia Civil, Silver Category; Commission of the Order of the Civil Merit; Commission of the Order of Isabel The Catholic; Cross of the Air Meritorious with Blue badge; Cross of the Air Meritorious, Military Meritorious and Maritime Meritorious with white badge; NATO Medal; the Kuwait Liberation Medal; and is French Chevalier de l’Ordre National du Mérite.
The General Braco is married and is father of two sons, and also has a grandson.
